On the way to Australia, I stopped in Fiji, and this was where I began to respond to God’s call with my whole heart. It was the example of the simple lifestyle of the Fijian people who lived on the small islands off of the mainland of Fiji that enkindled my vocation. Every night the Church bells would ring and all the little children would run to Mass. When I saw the young children wanting to go to the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass, I desired to go every day myself from that point on. This was a beautiful gift given by God, and I started to develop a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. Then I moved on to travel in New Zealand, where I traveled on a push-pedal bike around New Zealand. I slept on beaches and my bicycle journey was a retreat with God. I arrived in Australia half a year later and stayed with my mother for another half of a year.
I returned to Canada and met Bishop Sabatini of the Kamloops Diocese, and he sent me to the seminary in Mission to study Philosophy. I was twenty-two years of age when I entered the seminary life and I had four beautiful years at this seminary. Then I went to Edmonton to study for two years, a pastoral year at St. James Parish in Vernon and I ended my theological studies in Rome for two years. I was ordained to the diaconate in Rome May 1, 2001 by Archbishop Adam Exner and, God willing, will be ordained to the Holy Priesthood of Jesus Christ November 1, 2001 in Kamloops.
