We are Teresian Carmelite Missionaries, founded in Catalunia, Spain in 1860 by Father Francisco Palau, a discalced Carmelite friar. Our religious family finds the centre of its being and its action in the CHURCH, seen as a MYSTERY OF COMMUNION, Christ and neighbor together forming together one single body, animated and given life by the Holy Spirit.
The key to our spirituality is the Church, through which we contemplate and live the mysteries of Christ. This spirituality is expressed in various dimensions:
* MISSION- in serving our sisters and brothers through varied apostolic works in 23 countries world-wide, we proclaim the beauty of the Church.
* PRAYER- in all our personal and community prayer, we pray united to this Body of Christ who has the faces of real persons, especially of those who suffer most.
* COMMUNITY- we live together as sisters and we try to live truly in fraternity and communion.
We have been working in the Archdiocese of Vancouver since 1989 with Latin-American immigrants in the Hispanic Catholic Mission, where we currently are working with the Scalabrinian Fathers. In our apostolic work we carry out various tasks. We welcome and give orientation to newcomers, we counsel and help out with liturgy, with catechesis and with various apostolic groups (Charismatic Renewal, Marriage Encounter, young people, and others). We travel to the different sectors of the Archdiocese served by the Hispanic Mission, carry out reception and secretarial tasks, and we participate in prayer groups with lay Carmelites. In short, we do whatever emerges as a need of the Church and which can help promote the spiritual life of those around us.
