Our mission is to welcome people of all faiths, and to accompany them on their faith journey, helping them to find God in the circumstances and events of their daily lives. We express our Mission primarily through retreats, programs of spiritual renewal, faith formation, scripture study, spiritual direction, and the Prayer Card Ministry. The sisters take seriously their ministry of prayer. Through the Prayer Card Enrollment Ministry, the sisters remember in prayer all those who have asked for their prayers, and masses are offered for all of their intentions. For fifty years, the Sisters of the Cenacle served the people of Vancouver, British Columbia, and the Pacific Northwest at the Cenacle Retreat House in Vancouver. By 1996, the old Selkirk House needed major repairs and renovations. Faced with the Sisters own diminishing resources and the financial strain of repairing the house, the Cenacle Sisters decided to sell the house and relocate. In the summer of 1996, the sisters sold the house and moved temporarily to the sixth floor of Youville Residence until they found a suitable house to continue their ministry. The Sisters of the Cenacle moved into their new home at 5989 MacKenzie Street in Vancouver on September 25, 1998, where they continue to minister to God’s people by offering spiritual direction, small groups for morning, day, or evenings of prayer, scripture or spiritual growth. They continue their Prayer Card Ministry, praying daily for the needs of God’s people. Now, their ministry outside their house has increased as they bring retreats and spiritual programs to parishes, people’s homes, and other retreat centers.
